Meet the makers behind

Every good idea starts with a seed.

"The idea of Munchies Food Tour hit us while we were watching a "Ted" talk. I.e. the hit blockbuster featuring a talking bear."

Hello, our names are Alexandra and Rachael. Two years ago, we met on a tram.

Today we're business partners and owners of 2 tour companies - Who Is Amsterdam Tours and Brews & Tales Amsterdam Craft Beer Tours. We love giving people great experiences in our city. Hospitality runs in our blood. Both our companies are listed on Lonely Planet's "Best Things To Do Amsterdam 2019" Brews & Tales is #1 on TripAdvisor Amsterdam's Nightlife, while Who Is Amsterdam Tours ranks #12 of all Amsterdam tours on TripAdvisor after only one year in business.

After hosting thousands of travellers, we decided it was high time to create an funky food experience for visitors here to enjoy Amsterdam's beautiful coffeeshops. Something we ourselves would love. No Nutella (though it's great). None of the oversized pizza slices or days-old waffles. We wanted to create a cool experience that takes you to where we the locals eat. And to welcome you as friends and share our city's heartbeat with you.

And it all started with "Ted" and the question...

"Why don't we call it "the highlight of your trip?""

On April 20th 2019, Munchies Food Tour was officially registered as a business.

And we've only just begun.

Polish by blood, German by nationality, and Dutch by nature, Alexandra has the fiery passion of her roots, efficiency of an Audi, and an entrepreneurial mind. Once a Heineken executive, she decided to take the plunge into the world of commerce and be her own boss. Strawberries and "pierogi" (Polish dumpling) are two of her favourite foods. When she's not running a tour, chances are, you'll find her enjoying a NEIPA at Cafe In De Wildeman. Or thinking about her next venture.

"Funky Fresh Dog" (pork sausage with lemon, thyme, tzatziki and spring onions between a bretzel) from Bulls and Dogs.

Being a Singaporean native means that Rachael has a taste for good food and an aversion to "sex, drugs, and rock and roll". Turns out, the former is accurate and the latter, well... ;) Amsterdam's been her home for 6 years now. Much has changed. Her passion for good food? Not quite. Pork products and anything with a dose of spice thrill her. She likes her flavours real big. She's recently developed an unstoppable sweet tooth, too. Anything drenched in dark chocolate and covered in nuts will bend her will to nothing.

Sweet Chilli Fried Chicken (Korean fried chicken) by "Uncle Lee" is a recent discovery and has become a staple. Take-out and delivery only.
